Flyers win eighth straight

PHILADELPHIA – Carter Hart may be the real deal in goal; on Monday night ne made 41 saves for his seventh straight win in a 2-1 decision over the visiting Vancouver Canucks.

“I’m not really looking at that,” Hart said. “I just want to win hockey games. That’s our goal here, to keep this thing rolling, take things one game at a time, and just win.”

Sean Couturier and Jakub Voracek struck for the Flyers who have won eight straight.

“Right now, we’re a confident team,” Couturier said. “Bounces seem to go our way. … I feel like at crucial times we’re stepping up and getting the job done. That’s what you want at this time of the year, get the two points, and lately we’ve been doing that.”

Brock Boeser scored the Canucks’ only game.

“I thought we played a [heck] of a game,” Canucks coach Travis Green said. “Sometimes you play great games and you lose. That was one of our better games of the year.”

Jacob Markstrom made 28 saves in the loss.

Alexander Edler was stretchered off the ice in the third period after falling to the ice and making contact with his face.

He was taken for x-rays but no update was available at the end of the game.

“You don’t want to see anyone go down like that, especially your best defenseman, and you know it’s scary when you see a guy get knocked unconscious like that. … We wanted to get that one for him, but we just couldn’t capitalize,” Bo Horvat said.
