PHILADELPHIA – Owen Tippett hit for a double on Monday night to lead the Flyers to a 5-2 win over the visiting Seattle Kraken.

Travis Konecny #11 of the Philadelphia Flyers scores his first goal of the season during the second period against the Seattle Kraken
“I think our execution was better than last game (2-1 overtime win against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday),” Tippett said. “Little slip there in the second period, but I think we stuck with it and turned it around.”
Dan Vladar made 20 saves in the win.
Jordan Eberle and Jani Nyman were the strikers for Seattle.
We just can’t lose the battles we lost,” Kraken coach Lane Lambert said. “Just too many of them. We played slower today for whatever reason. We have to get more consistent in our thought process that way. But we’ve got to be faster, and we’ve got to be more committed to winning battles and I just didn’t think we won enough battles.”
After Eberle gave the Kraken a 1-0 lead in the opening frame, Tippett scored his first of the night to tie it.
“He’s a power forward-type of guy,” Flyers coach Rick Tocchet said. “The short time I’ve been here with this coaching staff, he’s been a pleasure to coach. He’s been in the room, he’s asking questions, he’s in the video room, he’s taking the information. He’s really taken a hold, and a leader type of role. That’s what I see. I don’t know what happened in the past, but he looks like a guy that’s dialed in.”
The Flyers took the lead on a power play marker from Tyson Foerster.
In the middle frame, Travis Konecny and Noah Cates (power pla( scored for the Flyers for a 4-1 advantage.
“We weren’t too happy with [the power play] early,” Tocchet said. “But obviously the play, that Zegras shot to York was something we talked about in the pre-scout, and it took us to the third power play to get it.”
Nyman got the Krane within two on a power play goal at 8:33
“We had a couple short-handed chances, we had a breakaway to make it 2-1,” Lambert said. “We had a 2-on-1 as well and we didn’t capitalize on those, and they came back and scored. They didn’t get much on their power play, but they capitalized on it.”
Tippett hit his double late in the second for the 5-2 final.
Joey Daccord made 16 saves before getting the hook in the second intermission.
Philipp Grubauer made six in the third period.
