PHILADELPHIA – The Flyers picked off their first win of the season on Monday night with a 6-1 decision over the Seattle Kraken.

Joel Farabee #86 of the Philadelphia Flyers set screen in front of Seattle Kraken Goalie Philipp Grubauer #31 as defenseman Haydn Fleury #4 and Jamie Oleksiak #24 work to clear the crease.
Derick Brassard had a goal and three points in the win.
Philadelphia scored three times in the opening frame to take control of the match and never relented.
Carter Hart made 23 saves in the win.
Carson Soucy scored the Kraken’s only goal.
“We had a really competitive start in the first 10 minutes,” Kraken head coach Dave Hakstol said. “We did have a couple of good scoring chances, we had a good, competitive start. We gave up the first goal from 200 feet away, which was a little bit of a theme tonight. I believe four of their goals we got beat up ice on. After that we got back on our heels and we really didn’t have a consistent push.”
Claude Giroux, Travis Konecny and Brassard scored in the first period.
“I think it could have been 2-0 for them early on,” Giroux said. “Carter made some huge saves for us and gave us momentum. When he made that save on Eberle, you saw the bench, the guys got a little bit more motivated and started playing.”
Ryan Ellis, Joel Farabee and Justin Braun also scored for the Flyers.
Philipp Grubauer got the start and surrendered allowed five goals and 15 saves before yielding the crease.
Chris Driedger made six saves in mop up.
“If I had to do it over, I would have gotten [Grubauer] out of there one sooner,” Hakstol said. “Not indicative of his play whatsoever. He’s played a lot of hockey for us and been outstanding.”
