In Raleigh, Carter Hart made 39 saves for the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday night, in a 2-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.
“I’m not going to apologize for great goaltending,” Philadelphia head coach Alain Vigneault said. “It was fun to watch. They had good goaltending too. There was no doubt that he made some unbelievable saves tonight.”
Steven Lorentz was the Canes lone goal scorer in the game as Carolina nursed the lead into the third period.
“It was two different games,” Carolina head coach Rod Brind’Amour said. “It was probably two of our best periods we played all year as far as doing what we wanted to do. You knew they were going to have a push. You’re not going to dominate three periods. It’s just not going to happen.”
The Flyers improved to 7-3-2.
“I’m just trying to do my job and stop pucks and have fun,” Hart said. “Whatever comes my way, I’ve just got to stop it. They came out hard and we just had to battle.”
Joel Farabee evened the game, 1-1 in the third.
Zack MacEwen put the Flyers ahead around the midway point of the final frame.
“It’s nice to get that one out of the way, getting rolling with the boys here,” MacEwen said. “Hopefully it kind of opens it up for me a little bit to keep it going.”
Frederik Andersen made 26 saves in the Canes loss.
“It was one of those nights when nothing was working for us as far as getting rewarded for what was going on,” Brind’Amour said. “Tough night for everyone really.”
