PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Flyers scored three power play goals in the third period to help defeat the Buffalo Sabres Tuesday night, 4-3, in a shootout.
Trailing 3-0 heading to the third, Travis Konecny, Brayden Schenn and Mark Streit Travis Konecny, Brayden Schenn and Mark Streit scored power pay goals in rallying the Flyers.
The Sabres had built a 3-0 lead in the second period on two power play goals from Matt Moulson.
Tyler EnnisTravis Konecny, Brayden Schenn and Mark Streit Travis Konecny, Brayden Schenn and Mark Streit put the Sabres up 1-0 early in the middle frame.
Michal Neuvirth got the start in the Flyers’ net but was pulled in favor of Steve ason in the second period.
Mason made eight saves in relief and was solid in the skills competition to get the win.
In the shootout, Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek scored to get the Flyers the win.
For Konecny, his goal was his first career NHL marker. Streit scored with just under two minutes remaining in regulation to force extra time.
Anders Nilsson took the loss on 38 saves for Buffalo.
