“Had an opportunity to go up,” Gostisbehere said. “Kind of cheated a little bit and I stayed up. I knew [Voracek] was going to win the battle. He made a great play. I knew I just had to find a hole for him to make the pass and he made a great play.”

Scott Laughton struck twice and Dale Weise and Travis Konecny also scored for the Flyers.

“It feels great,” Weise said. “The situation, to tie the game like that, it feels even better. I’m not a guy who stresses over goals and points. I’ve been all around it, I know it’s going to come. I don’t really judge myself on goals. I know I’ve been playing well, that’s the huge part for me. But it obviously feels good to score.”

Brian Elliott got the win on 16 saves after entering the game when Calvin Pickard got the hook for making 14 saves and surrendering four goals.

The Coyotes now have nine shorthanded goals on the season courtesy of Derek Stepan and Michael Grabner Thursday night.

“We had some uncharacteristic play and turnovers from some guys in the first half of the hockey game that put us in a bad spot. Yet guys had the resiliency and the push and the drive and togetherness to turn it around and push back the other direction. Take a ton of positives out of it and look at the ugly stuff tomorrow,” Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol said after the win.

Ekman-Larsson and Brad Richardson also scored for Arizona.

“It’s 4-2 and it’s a learning lesson for this team,” Coyotes head coach Rick Tocchet said. “Didn’t get the puck in deep on a couple mismanagement plays that cost us. This is a team that’s really good 150 feet, we talked about in the game plan. Then we started to take over the game, playing 200 feet, and then we reverted back to old habits.”
