Flyers on the edge of destruction

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The magic that defeated the New Jersey Devils is virtually gone. The Boston Bruins are one win away from sweeping the Philadelphia Flyers out of the playoffs with a 4-1 win in Game Three of their second round playoff series. Tuuka Rask made 34 saves on the way to victory. Rask was t he NHL’s regular-season leader in goals-against average and save percentage and look to carry the Bruins to their first trip to the Eastern Conference finals since 1992.   The Flyers threw 15 shots on Rask in the second period but none went in the net.   The only goal he allowed was the first goal of the game to Arron Asham 2:32 into the game on a two-on-one break.  The Bruins helped Task’s cause blocking 21 shots, five by rookie Johnny Boychuck, and won 58 percent of their face-offs. The Flyers will try to become only the third team in NHL history to win a series after losing the first three games. The Bruins are 16-0 when leading a best-of-3 series 3-0. The Flyers have lost all six series which they have faced a 0-3 deficit. Black Wheeler and Miroslav Satan scored 1:34 apart to take a 2-1 lead   5:45 into the game.   That would be all Rask and the Bruins would need for the win.   Mark Recchi knocked home a rebound 2:30 into the third period on a puck that deflected off of Chris Pronger’s shoulder, hit Wheeler and caromed   to Recchi   for the score. Patrice Bergeron finished off the scoring with an empty netter with 1:52 remaining. Game Four is Friday night in Philadelphia.
