Flyers host Pens in genteel affair

PHILADELPHIA – So, the outdoors games of the 2018-19 NHL season have come to end.

Saturday night featured the Flyers hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins players tussle in the first period.

The Pens held a 3-1 lead in the early stages of the third period but the Flyers rallied late to force extra time.

Claude Giroux completed the comeback with a goal in overtime.

The excitement, amid the rain drops, mist, cold, and wind, was the true animosity these two teams share between themselves.

It is rare to find a true Rodney Dangerfield-type  hockey game any longer.

But Saturday night filled the bill.

Pushing and shoving quickly escalated to face washes and fists.

Nasty hits along the boards and in open ice were plentiful as well.

The hatred each feels for the other side all ended with the proverbial hand shake but the seething bled off with the evaporating sweat.

Until next time, boys.
