James van Riemsdyk and Travis Konecny scored for the Flyers.

“Feels good to be back in the win column,” Konecny said. “And I think we definitely earned that one. [Goalie Carter] Hart stood on his head for us and we played the right way the whole game. We deserved that.”

The Flyers improved to

Earlier this week, head coach Scott Gordon had had a private discussion with van Riemsdyk about his play and what could be improved.

Van Riemsdyk said he appreciated the attention Gordon gave him.

“There should be dialogue between coaches and players, that’s how you get growth,” van Riemsdyk said. “I appreciate him taking some time to talk me through some things he wanted me to see and some different things we’re trying to do. I think it makes it easier when you have that dialogue.”

Carter Hart made 37 saves to get the win despite the limited offense.

“After maybe my first couple games you settle in, and when it comes to those kind of situations you’ve just got to play,” Hart said. “You do all the work in practice and all the video, but when it comes to the game that’s part of your hockey sense and awareness. Just got to play.”

Jamie Benn scored, the lone goal for the Stars.

“I thought we skated well,” Stars coach Jim Montgomery said. “Just weren’t doing enough. Not enough players had an impact, either with the puck or without the puck.”

Dallas dropped to 23-18-4.

Anton Khudobin made 20 saves in the loss.

“I thought our intent was there, we just didn’t get things done. One of those games where it’s a winnable game on the road but we didn’t do it,” Montgomery said.
