On a night where winning streaks were extended, the New Jersey Devils found a complete game from across the bench and blanked the Philadelphia Flyers, 4-0 as Cory Schneider made 16 saves for his first shutout of the season.
The win snapped a seven-game skid the Devils were riding.
PA Parenteau, Miles Wood, Adam Henrique, and Kyle Palmieri all scored for the Devils who are 1-6-1 in their eight games.
“It’s nice to get back on track and play some good, hard hockey,” Parenteau said. “There’s no reason to believe we can’t play like this more often. This was a tough stretch and no one was happy in this locker room.”
New Jersey is 13-13-7 on the season.
“You could tell the emotions, the passion and commitment were there,” Schneider said. “I think we’re just tired of losing, just tired of not winning. That could manifest itself in a lot of ways and [Thursday] it was a positive.”
Steve Mason got the start in the Flyers net and yielded two goals on eight shots in the first period.
“We knew they were going to come out with a better effort than they’ve had but at the same time we have to focus on our own game and not what they’re doing,” Mason said.
Mason was give the hook after the first and replaced by Anthony Stolarz who made 12 saves the rest of the way.

“We didn’t have a whole lot of energy. We just couldn’t get engaged. That hasn’t happened too often in the first half. This group has been a bunch of warriors. We just didn’t have the energy [Thursday],” Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol said of his team’s effort.
