Flyers fall, 1-0, in Columbus

Sergei Bobrovsky made 36 saves for the Blue Jackets in a 1-0 shutout of the Philadelphia Flyers Saturday afternoon.

“He’s just locked in,” Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella said. “There’s not a lot of extra room. He’s confident. He’s prepared himself.”

The loss left the Flyers with a record of 34-32-8 and a deficit of eight points behind the second wild card spot in the east.

The Jackets are now 48-18-7 and just three points back of the Metropolitan Division leaders.

For Bobrovsky it was his seventh shutout of the season and 19th as a Blue Jacket netminder.

“I don’t think about those statistic points,” Bobrovsky said. “For me, it’s very important to win each game. It’s important for me to focus on that.”

Alexander Wennberg was the game’s only scorer.

“We know we’re working toward playing a better game, but to hold onto a 1-0 lead and squeak one out is great sign,” Blue Jackets forward Nick Foligno.
