PHILADELPHIA – The Flyers got goals fromClaude Giroux, Jakub Voracek and Sean Couturier to defeat the Chicago Blackhawks, 3-1 Thursday night.
“The plays they made, that’s chemistry,” Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol said. “We’re two months in, they’ve had time together. They don’t just go out and throw it out there. They talk about it, they work at it. Tonight, they were on.”
The top line for the Flyers dominated the scoresheet with seven points on the night.
“It’s starting to be a little more natural finding each other out there,” Couturier said. “We’re knowing where we’re going to be and what the other guy is thinking. It’s getting better and better.”
Brian Elliott picked up the win on the strength of 38 saves.
Connor Murphy had the lone strike for the Blackhawks.
“It’s a long season. A lot of guys have been through it. I know we have some young guys, but the guys that have been through it can kind of lead the way. There’s still lots of hockey to be played,” Chicago’s Brandon Saad said after the poor offensive performance.
Philadelphia improved to 8-6-2 with the win.

Corey Crawford made 28 saves in taking the loss as the Hawks dropped to 7-7-2.
Chicago has struggled putting pucks in the net and have gone 2-5-0 over their seven games because of that.
“Get back in the game 3-2, then we’re off to the races and put some pressure on them the rest of the game,” the Blackhawks’ Jonathan Toews said. “It is not easy to play with a one-goal lead. … It’s moments like that that we need to feed off of that momentum and we just couldn’t find a way.”
