Flyers escape with Game 1 win lewis

The Philadelphia Flyers’ Carter Hart made 27 saves  in a 2-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday evening.

The win gives the Flyers a 1-0 series lead.

“We’re in the playoffs right now so it’s crunch time,” Hart said. “We know that Montreal is a good team and they come hard. I thought tonight was a good battle between both teams. Whenever it’s a good battle on the ice, it always feels rewarding at the end. That was a hard-fought win by us.”

Shea Weber was the only Canadien to break through for a goal.

“I thought from the second period on we really started playing our game, and I think we built some confidence knowing that we can play with these guys,” Canadiens head coach Claude Julien said. “They’re an extremely good team. I’d like to think that our team right now is a good enough team to play with these guys.”

Jakub Voracek and Joel Farabee were the Flyers’ strikers.

“I just try and do whatever I can to help the team whatever my role is that night,” Farabee said. “Playing with [Couturier and Giroux], they’re two world-class players and it’s a lot of fun playing with them. Hopefully we can keep this momentum rolling.”

Carey Price made 29 saves in the loss.

Weber’s goal was the Habs’ first on the power play since the start of the post season play.

“That is big obviously for the power play,” Weber said. “Hopefully (it will) come back and build some momentum. We’ve been so good 5-on-5 already that we’d like to keep that up.”
