PHILADELPHIA – The Flyers lost again Friday, this time, 5-4, to the New York Islanders in extra time.
It’s the seventh straight loss for the Flyers after a fast start to the season.

Defenseman Dennis Seidenberg (#4) of the New York Islanders and Left Wing Danick Martel (#70) of the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Isles’ Nick Leddy scored the game-winner midway through the overtime.
New York’s Joshua Ho-Sang made a nifty move to get from behind the cage to the front before feeding Leddy on the winner.
“[Ho-Sang] made a great play at the end and I just tried to put it back far side,” Leddy said.
The Flyers dropped to 8-9-6 with the loss and had a two-goal lead late before collapsing.
“We have to find a way to get confidence, especially in the third,” the Flyers’ Claude Giroux said. “We have to believe in what we’re doing and what we’re doing is going to work.
“When we start believing that we’re a good team and we can finish games and the way we play is going to win us games, we’re going to start winning. Until then, stuff like this can happen.”
The two-goal lead evaporated on goals from Jordan Eberle and Andrew Ladd.
“I didn’t say a word between the second and third (periods),” Islanders coach Doug Weight said. “Generally, that’s when you’re mad. But I think they felt at the end of the second that they were going to win the game.”
Thomas Greiss made 26 saves to pick up the win.
“Finding a way to get the game tied and get it into overtime and then get two points out of the game is pretty huge for us,” Ladd said.
Mathew Barzal and Cal Clutterbuck struck for Isles’ goals.
Shayne Gostisbehere, Sean Couturier Giroux, and Wayne Simmonds scored for the Flyers.
“Seven of our last 10 that we’ve gotten a point,” Flyers coach Dave Hakstol said. “So five of those are OT or shootout losses. Again today, a close hockey game all the way through, and we have to find a way to finish the games in overtime.”

Brian Elliott made 32 saves in taking the loss.
“Right now, it’s a tough time. There’s still growth going on during this time and that always doesn’t come easy. We’ve got to be up to that challenge, mentally, physically, to come back and do a little bit better,” Hakstol said of the loss and losing streak.
