Flyers drop 4-3 OT decision to Kings PHN's Best Shots of the Game - FIala wins it for Kings in OT after controversial non call

PHILADELPHIA – The Kings’ Kevin Fiala  hit for the game-winner on Tuesday with 69 seconds gone in extra time for a 4-3 win over the Flyers.

The goal came off a 2-on-1 break.

“It’s obviously a great shot by Kevin,” Los Angeles captain Anze Kopitar said. “‘Copper’ bailed us out back there with a nice save, and we were able to capitalize on that.”

Kopitar had two goals for Los Angeles, both in the first period.

Phoenix Copley made 28 saves in the LA win.

The Kings improved to 27-17-6.

The Flyers’ James van Riemsdyk  and Wade Allison  scored in the first period to send the game to the second period tied, 2-2.

The Flyers dropped to 20-21-8.

“Tonight, I mean, I watched how quick that team played when the game started and I said, ‘Man.’ But then I thought we stuck right in there with them, got our legs and played a really good hockey game,” Philadelphia coach John Tortorella said.

Rasmus Ristolainen had a goal for the Flyers, his strike gave them a 3-2 lead in the middle frame.

LA’s Samuel Fagemo made amends for a lapse on the Ristolainen goal by tying the game, 3-3 later in the second.

“I know ‘Sammy’ was disappointed in Ristolainen’s goal,” LA coach Todd McLellan said. “It was an opportunity for him to check that situation and let it get away on him, and he knew right away. But then to come back and answer with the goal itself was really important. And that timing of that goal and the momentum there was important for our team as well.”

Carter Hart made 34 saves in the loss.

“It’s just too many penalties,” Tortorella said. “I thought our penalty killers did a great job. Other than the quick first one that they scored, I thought our guys did a really good job.”
