The Vegas Golden Knights have knocked off some of the rust build up around the joints.
On Friday night,, Marc-Andre Fleury made 34 saves for his seventh shutout of the season in a 3-0 win over the Anaheim Ducks.
Admittedly it was Anaheim but a shutout is a shutout.
“We know the Ducks are low in the standings, but they still play hard,” Fleury said. “They can get you, so it’s nice to get the two points here.”
William Karlsson, Alex Tuch and Cody Eakin scored for Vegas.
The Knights are now in solid possession of third place in the Pacific Division with a cushion over the Arizona Coyotes but trail the San Jose Sharks by nine points for second place.
The Ducks dropped 24-32-9.
“They’re doing a lot of the right things,” Anaheim assistant coach Marty Wilford said of the Ducks. “All you can continue to do is show them the positive stuff they’re doing.”
Anaheim is 5-21-4 in their last 30 matches.
“If you’re not getting chances, you’re not doing something right, but if you are getting chances, you’re doing something right,” Anaheim forward Corey Perry said. “It’s a tough league to score goals in. You might get one or two (scoring chances) in a game, and that’s it. You have to make good on those opportunities. Unfortunately, tonight, it didn’t happen.”

John Gibson made 31 saves in another Anaheim loss.
“We’re taking care of our own end a lot better, and we’re getting out of our end a lot better,” Wilford said. “We’ll have to continue to show the chances we had tonight. Scoring chances were 9-3 in the second period, but it’s tough coming out of that period when you’re down two.”
