In Sunrise Friday, the Calgary Flames’ Chad Johnson made 36 saves and got all the offense he needed in the fist five minutes of the game in a 4-2 win over the Florida Panthers.
“I thought he was very good tonight,” Flames head  coach Glen Gulutzan said. “I just thought him coming in tonight, he was so calm in his demeanor, especially late with all the traffic and the shots. He kept things real clean. I thought he was the difference for sure.”
It was Johnson’s first start since early in the month.
“I felt good with my game tonight. I got the results, which makes myself happy and everybody else happy,” Johnson said after his last ended with an early exit.
The Panthers may want to get back out on the road. After winning all five games of a recent roadie they have returned home to a losing streak.
Troy Brouwer, Sam Bennett, Mikael Backlund, and Deryk Engelland were the Flames offense.
“I thought we played pretty fast and we were driving the net and making some good plays and shooting the puck,” Backlund said.
Florida got goals from Nick Bjugstad and Aleksander Barkov; the Panthers dropped to 28-22-10 with the loss.
“We had a lot of chances to score, but we need to tighten up our defensive game and play the same way we play on the road,” Barkov said after the loss.

Roberto Luongo made 24 saves in the loss.
“We had a ton of chances,” Florida head coach Tom Rowe said. “We just didn’t have any lucky bounces go our way. Their goaltender played unbelievable. We were getting shots, but their goaltender won them the game.”
