In Calgary Wednesday night, the Flames used two goals from Johnny Gaudreau to spark a 6-3 win over the Anaheim Ducks.
The Ducks had taken a 2-0 lead early but the Flames rallied with five unanswered goals.
Gaudreau now has 50 points on the year, the first player to do that in his first year since Jarome Iginla.
“It’s pretty special for me to be part of something like that,” Gaudreau said. “Jarome Iginla, I grew up watching him. He’s been so successful. It’s exciting to be a part of something like that. It’s exciting. I always dreamed about playing in the NHL. I’m pretty fortunately to be playing with (Jiri Hudler) and (Sean Monahan), who have really helped me out here all season long. It’s pretty exciting for me.”
The Ducks got two goals from Ryan Getzlaf and one from Hampus Lindholm.
“I think they’re all critical [games] right now,” Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau said. “Everybody thinks that, ‘Oh yeah, we’re in first place’ and that, but I mean it’s within 10 points of the wild card and we’ve played more games than everybody else, so we’ve got to get our act in gear right now.”
The Flames are now 4-0-1 in their five games.
“Everyone’s stepping up here, whether it’s a defenseman or a forward, first line or fourth line,” Gaudreau said. “It’s great to see that too when we’re coming down the playoff stretch here. It’s going to help us in the long run.”
Karri Ramo got the win on 29 saves while John Gibson took the loss on 17 saves.
