The Flames rallied form a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Chicago Blackhawks Saturday in Calgary.
Sean Monahan struck for two goals in the win as the Flames have won four straight and improved to 9-5-1.
“You get those wins and the ways we’re winning, [confidence] shows,” Monahan said. “We’ve got that ability to come back, but that’s not the team we want to be. We want to be playing with the lead. We want to know how to win. I think that’s something we’ve got to keep learning.”
Matthew Tkachuk, Michael Frolik and Mikael Backlund also scored for the Flames.
The Flames have a gaudy 28 goals in the third period this season to lead the NHL.
“Obviously it’d be nice if we could be up after the first or second, but there’s no quit in this room, I guess,” Frolik said. “It shows the character here and what we’ve got. The last couple we’ve been pretty solid. It’s a big win for us.”
David Rittich made 12 saves in the win.
Jonathan Toews, Jan Rutta and Brandon Saad scored for the Hawks who dropped to 6-6-3 with the loss.
“We haven’t been able to put together a full 60 [minutes],” Saad said. “In this league, if you don’t play consistent you’re not going to win hockey games.”
Chicago is 0-4-1 in their last five.
Calgary is 4-0-1 in their five games.
“We’re confident the whole game,” Tkachuk said. “I just think that maybe when we’re down we are pressing but pressing in a good way. It’s not like we’re going all-out. We’re sticking to the game plan and everything like that. There’s definitely an extra motivation when you have the puck in the offensive zone, and that’s great.”

Corey Crawford made 36 saves in the loss.
“They just put so much pressure,” Crawford said. “They kept coming. A lot of speed. They were making plays. They had a lot of confidence there in the third.”
