A four-point effort from Sam Bennett (goal and three assists) and a four-goal second period helped the Calgary Flames bury the Canucks in Vancouver Sunday night in a 6-1 victory.
“Even though the last few games we didn’t get a win, we were playing really good hockey and just weren’t getting rewarded,” Bennett said. “That definitely feels really good for everyone tonight.”
Mark Giordano struck twice in the win.
“Lots of guys needed it,” Flames head coach Glen Gulutzan said. “This is a stick-with-it league. We had some guys step up from the beginning. … We had lots of guys going and we need to continue that.”
Mark Jankowski, Matthew Tkachuk and Michael Ferland also scored for Calgary.
Markus Granlund scored the lone Canucks goal.
David Rittich made 16 saves to pick up the win for the Flames.
“It was like skating practice for me, not a lot of shots because guys played really well,” Rittich said. “They played like they don’t need a goalie, so I just say, ‘Thanks guys.'”

Jacob Markstrom got the start for Vancouver and made 14 saves yielding five goals through two periods; he was given the hook after the second intermission.
Anders Nilsson mopped up in the third and made 18 saves, giving up one goal.
“We have to like the challenge. We all want to play more. If you ask each and every player, they want more ice time. They are going to get more ice time now,” Daniel Sedin said after the loss.
