In Vancouver, the Calgary Flames scored three times in the first period and added single markers in the second and third periods for a 5-2 lead over the Canucks on Saturday.
Vancouver hit for two goals in the third for a 5-2 final.
Dan Vladar made 23 saves in the Flames win.
Matthew Tkachuk hit for a goal and three points in the win.
“We pretty much got embarrassed that night and this is our last game of the regular season here in this rink so we had one more crack at it to get them back and I thought the first period was big,” Tkachuk said. “Looking at the small picture, we just want to come in and have a good first few shifts each and come out with the lead and I thought we did that and honestly rolled from there.”
Noah Hanifin, Tkachuk, and Rasmus Andersson scored the first period goals fr for the Flames.
“Obviously, we wanted to come out hard in the second period. Maybe if those go in it’s a different story,” the Canucks’ Bo Horvat said. “But when you’re down 3-0 going into the second, especially against a team like that, it’s hard to come back.”
The Canucks dropped to 30-26-7.
Elias Lindholm made it 4-0 in the second period, and Johnny Gaudreau scored in the third for the 5-0 advantage.
Vancouver’s Matthew Highmore and Brock Boeser scored lipstick goals for the 5-2.
“They’re a [heck] of a team, but we made them look pretty good tonight also,” the Canucks’ J.T. Miller said. “They’re one of the best teams in the League top to bottom, no doubt, but we play the way we do like that, we’re seeing it too often creep into our game where the third period means nothing.”
Thatcher Demko got the start for Vancouver and yielded four goals and made 25 saves before getting the hook in the second intermission.
Jaroslav Halak made 14 saves in relief.
