Five-goal middle frame sends US over Italy in quarterfinal

The No. 1-seeded United States opened the knockout stage at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 against Group B’s third-place finisher, Italy, and handled the hosts comfortably with a 6–0 victory. After scoring once in the first period, the Americans erupted for five goals in the second to put the game out of reach.

Minnesota Frost forward Kendall Coyne Schofield led all skaters with two goals, recording her first points of the Winter Olympic Games. Boston Fleet defender Megan Keller continued her strong tournament in Milano Cortina, adding two assists to bring her total to six points through five games.

Italy was limited to just six shots on goal in the contest, as their tournament came to an end in the quarterfinals. Toronto Sceptres forward Kristin Della Rovere finished as the host nation’s leading point scorer with four points in five games.
