Two players well-known to EIHL fans returned to the league this week, as the Cardiff Devils and Fife Flyers both announced new signings.

In Cardiff, the Devils confirmed the addition of former Guildford Flames captain Brett Ferguson. The forward spent seven seasons with the Flames, serving as captain for four of them, and recorded 33 points in his final season in Surrey.
“Brett’s game will suit our style of play. His experience of the league and his leadership skills will make us a better team,” said Devils Head Coach Paul Thompson. “He plays hard at both ends of the ice and he is difficult to play against. I’m very pleased we were able to pick up a player of Brett’s ability.”
In Fife, the Flyers announced on Tuesday night the signing of defenceman Simon Després, formerly of the Nottingham Panthers and Glasgow Clan. The 34-year-old has played 111 EIHL games over two seasons, posting 49 points. Després also brings significant top-level experience, having played 222 NHL games before spells in the KHL, DEL, and Austria.
“I’m thrilled to join this group and help them win some games,” said Després. “I’m a very competitive guy and I’m embracing the challenge of turning this boat around and bringing it to the final four weekend in Nottingham.”
