It’s official, they are the newest expansion team in the FPHL.
The first announcement was of the managing partner and team President, Parker Moskal. Parker is no stranger to the league, not only as a player, but last season he got to see how a team was run from the inside, working in corporate sales for the Baton Rouge Zydeco.
This isn’t just another hockey team in his eyes, “We believe the Moccasins will be a source of pride to the community.” He said, “I am committed to ensuring we embody the pride and spirit of Monroe.”
League Commissioner Don Kirnan said the Moccasins didn’t take this endeavor lightly,
“We’re a large league and this is our second team in Louisiana”. He continued, “They have ownership that is very persistent. We snuck them in at the deadline, but I know this is going to be a wonderful situation.”
Co-owner and the CEO of the Perkin Group, Nick Perkin, credits Moskal with getting this project off the ground, “Parker helped set this up, you can’t ask him to run through a brick wall because he’ll do it.”
He added, “He’s also a top scorer in this league and he knows who plays well with who.”
Perkin also addressed the skeptics, while dropping a nice surprise for the Bayou State. “Fans may say this team will just fold like the last one, that won’t happen.” He said, “Let me put our mission into perspective, we are currently in conversations with Governor Landry to put an NHL team in New Orleans. If Vegas can do it, so can New Orleans.”
Also announced are the first two players signed, Marquis Grant-Mentis and Kyle Stevens. Both are quality players and set a firm foundation for this new franchise
