Faragher, Larraza lead Grizzlies to win

LOVELAND, CO – The Utah Grizzlies defeated the Colorado Eagles 4-1 Saturday night in Colorado.

Grizzlies goaltender Ryan Faragher stopped 41 of 42 shots in the game, including 14 of 15 in the first period and all 18 shots that he saw in the third period to earn the win.

Forward Zac Larraza had two goals and two assists in the game factoring in on all Utah scores. Utah leading scorer Erik Bradford had two assists in the contest.

Mathieu Aubin’s 16th goal of the season gave Utah a 1-0 lead 15:13 into the first period as Martin Nemcik and Gabriel Verpaelst got the puck deep. Larraza forced it free and Aubin scored down low as Michael Pelech went to the net. After Utah killed two first period penalties, the Eagles tied the game with 20 seconds left in the first period but that would be all of their scoring.

Larraza crossed the blue line and scored from the circle 3:22 into the second on Utah’s first power-play to make it 2-1.

Colin Martin scored his 20th of the year when he took a backdoor pass from Bradford on the power-play to make it 3-1 with 2:11 left in the second period. Larraza added another assist on the score.

Larraza made it 4-1 going hard to the net from Bradford again 9:48 into the third period. Verpaelst picked up an assist as Utah killed time in the Colorado zone.

Utah went 2-5 on the power-play and 4-4 on the penalty-kill.
