In Newark Friday night, the New Jersey Devils lost for the first time in regulation at home this season in a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the St Louis Blues.
Robby Fabbri scored three goals and Vladimir Tarasenko had three assists in the win.
Fabbri’s line contributed the two goals and achipped in six assists in the win.
“They’re really dangerous every shift because they’re smart offensive players,” Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said. “This is the best [Fabbri] has played for us since he’s been here; he fought off checks to score both his goals.”
The Blues won for only the second time in their last eight road games.
Ryan Reaves and Jaden Schwartz also scored for the Blues.
Jake Allen faced only 21 shots, saving 20, for the win.
“Right now we’ve got to acknowledge what’s taking place here and why we haven’t played well and make sure we turn this around as quick as possible,” New Jersey’s Michael Cammalleri said.
The loss pushed the Devils to a record of 12-9-6 and they were not really in the game.’

“We’re going through a little bit of a tough time right now. There was a point where we were playing fantastic hockey, our battle level was real high,” Devils head coach John Hynes said. “You can’t get too high when you go on a five-game win streak, and you can’t get too low when you’re going through the situation we’re going through. It’s all part of what we have to go through. We have to make sure we’re mentally tough enough to not let the slide go too, too long.”
Keith Kinkaid made 28 saves in the loss.
