Experience added to Dragons’ side

Alex Parry will return to senior ice hockey with The Dragons next season – and Head Coach Lol Paul wants the winger to form a key part of his squad.

Parry, who last played for Deeside in 2013, made a big impression at the club’s pre-season trials last month and was immediately offered terms by Paul.

The 23-year-old was an ever-present at Chester Road for the first part of his career, after making his debut with the Avalanches under-16s side in 2005.Deeside dragons logo

And for Dragons chief Paul, that return could prove to be a bonus during the new Laidler Conference campaign.

He said: “Alex rang me just before the trials and asked to try out. I wasn’t sure what to expect, as he’s had a few years out, but he really impressed me.

“He’s a good lad who works hard and seems to put everything into what he does on the ice. Those qualities are just what we’re looking for here in Deeside.
“I believe Alex took a few years off to play roller hockey, but he’s come back looking very good. I can see him doing a job for us on the wing, so he’s another excellent addition.”

Those plans for pre-season also include games against The Tigers NIHL – the first opportunity for fans to watch the new squad in action.

Paul added: “Our first game is away to Telford on August 29th, before we play them in Deeside on Saturday 5th September. They are going to be very exciting games.

“Our new import is almost ready to be announced, and with the rest of the squad looking good, the new season can’t come soon enough.”
