Everblades re-sign forward Blake Winiecki

ESTERO, FLA- Florida Everblades General Manager Craig Brush, along with Director of Hockey Operations and Head Coach Brad Ralph, announced on Tuesday the re-signing of forward Blake Winiecki for the 2020-21 season.

Winiecki will be entering his third full season with the Everblades. The forward returns to the team after being called up to the AHL’S Charlotte Checkers at the end of the 2019-20 season.

“Blake has consistently put up points and has been a big game player for us over the last two seasons,” Ralph said. “He’s a core player, both on and off the ice. We will look for Blake to take yet another step forward in his performance and leadership role this season.”

Winiecki turned professional with the ‘Blades at the end of the 2017-18 season. The forward continued to see more action in the 2018-19 season, where he appeared in 61 games and totaled 59 points (25 goals, 34 assists). In the 2019-20 season, Winiecki appeared in 56 games and totaled 50 points (24 goals, 26 assists).

Before becoming a pro, the Minnesota native attended St. Cloud State University (NCHC), where he played NCAA Division I hockey. He notched 75 points in 145 career games for SCSU, and he also guided his team to tournament championships in the 2015-16 National Collegiate Hockey Conference tournament and the 2017-18 Penrose Cup.

Winiecki becomes the sixth member to sign with Florida for the 2020-21 season, joining forwards John McCarron, Michael Neville, Kyle Neuber, Joe Pendenza and goaltender Cam Johnson.
