Enter the EIHL Playoff Champions

The defending Playoff Champions, Nottingham Panthers, hit the ice this week as preparations ramp up for their first pre-season game of the 2025/26 campaign.

Danny Stewart’s side will be the first Elite League team to face Canada’s Concordia University, with the game set for Saturday night at the Motorpoint Arena. A crowd of close to 6,000 is expected for the Panthers’ opening warm-up fixture of the new season.

“It’s always an exciting time in week one,” said Stewart, looking ahead to his first full week with the squad. “The important thing is getting guys settled in as quickly as possible. It’s the busiest time of year, with players adjusting to new apartments, new gear, and getting back into the routine of skating every day. For us as coaches, it’s about making sure we prepare the team and get everyone united from the start.”

In his debut season as Panthers Head Coach, Stewart ended the club’s nine-year wait for an EIHL title, guiding them to the 2025 Playoff title that was sealed by a dramatic double-overtime winner in the Final.

“Last year was a special year for the club,” he reflected. “The summer left us with a real sense of accomplishment and joy, but now our focus is firmly on the task at hand, both on and off the ice. This season brings a fresh opportunity to build on what we achieved and challenge for trophies again. We like the team we have on paper, but the hard work starts now.”
