It’s back to league action this Wednesday evening in the Elite Ice Hockey League, as the Guildford Flames entertain the Nottingham Panthers.
The Flames came out on top when the sides met on Opening Weekend in Guildford, scoring five goals in the first period en route to victory.
In truth, neither team has started how they would have expected. The win over the Panthers was the Flames’ only victory so far, with defeats to Sheffield, Cardiff and Coventry following. Nottingham won in Manchester last Friday, but that is their only win after losses to the Flames, Cardiff and Sheffield.
Should either team win by two goals or more tonight, they will go to the top of the standings ahead of Glasgow, who won the only other league game so far. There are no further league fixtures until 4 October.
The Flames have won 11 of the 21 league fixtures they have played against the Panthers in Guildford.
