EIHL Matches continue on Saturday

Saturday night in the Elite Ice Hockey League brings four games as the race for league positions and playoff places heats up.

Guildford Flames get the action underway at 6pm as they host Fife Flyers. It’s a big weekend for the Flyers, who also face Dundee on Sunday as they look to close the gap on the playoff places. Such is the importance of the trip that Fife’s new ownership group has opted to fly the team south and back again rather than travel by bus. Guildford were beaten in overtime by Coventry last week but have the chance to put that right with two home games this weekend, as they continue to sit in the middle of the pack.

At 7pm in Belfast, the Giants and Sheffield Steelers renew hostilities in part two of their weekend double-header at the SSE Arena.

Cardiff Devils welcome Manchester Storm to the Vindico Arena, a week after the Storm came away with a 2-1 win in Altrincham. Meetings between the sides this season have all been tight affairs, each decided by no more than two goals.

In Dundee, the Stars host Coventry Blaze in a reverse of last Friday’s fixture. That night, Dundee came back from 3-0 down to claim an overtime win and move within a point of the Blaze in the playoff race. With that battle ongoing, neither side can afford to give ground in this crucial matchup.
