New league leaders Belfast Giants head on the road on Wednesday night as they face Guildford Flames at the Spectrum.

As the league’s lone midweek fixture, the Giants have the opportunity to move two points clear at the top of the standings. Victory would also see them extend their advantage over third-placed Nottingham Panthers from one point to three. Belfast climbed to the summit last weekend thanks to back-to-back home wins over Sheffield Steelers.
Guildford consolidated their position in the middle of the table last weekend with a home win over Fife Flyers, before narrowly losing to Cardiff Devils by the odd goal in seven. The Flames sit 13 points clear of the playoff cut-off and four points outside the top five, having played one more game than Manchester Storm above them.
The teams have met twice already this season in Guildford, with the Flames scoring two goals on both occasions. One proved enough for a one-goal victory, while the other ended in a 5-2 defeat. Across the four meetings between the sides this season, Guildford have been limited to two goals in three of them and were shut out in the other.
