BOISE, Idaho – With a very hungry and immensely talented opponent in the Idaho Steelheads, the Colorado Eagles used every second of the 73 minutes and 32 seconds Thursday night to finally get the game and series-winning goal.
Drayson Bowman tipped a shot past Idaho goalie Phillipe Desrosiers with assists from Matt Garbowsky and Ryan Harrison, at 13:32 of the first overtime period for the only goal of the game.
Eagles netminder Joe Cannata was stellar in goal with 47 saves while recording his second overtime shutout of the series.
Colorado went 0-for-5 on the power play, while recording 14 minutes in penalties on seven infractions with 35 shots on goal.
Idaho went 0-for-3 on the power play while recording 14 minutes in penalties on seven infractions with 47 shots on goal.
The Eagles’ opponent in the next round has yet to be determined as the Toledo Walleye and the Fort Wayne Komets are still involved in their division series.
Toledo holds a 2-1 best-of-seven series lead over Fort Wayne with game four scheduled for Friday night in Fort Wayne. If the series goes the full seven games the Eagles will not know their conference finals opponent until next Wednesday night.
