Eagles defeat Rush in game seven to win Turner Conference

RAPID CITY, S.D. – With only three penalties called and one goal scored, the Colorado Eagles and Rapid City Rush each played a near perfect hockey game in game seven of the Central Hockey League’s Turner Conference finals.
The Rush remained in control of the play for much of the first frame. Helped by two power plays, the home team out shot the Eagles 18-12 but were unable to solve Eagles netminder Kyle Jones.
Jones and Rush goalie Tim Boron continued their perfection throughout the second period as well.
With the Eagles getting the only man-advantage in the middle frame, the visitors out shot the home team 12-5 but no shots found their way past either goal line.

At 18:12 of the third period, the scoreless tie was finally broken by Colorado Eagle’s Captain  Riley Nelson as he put back a rebound of a Daymen Rycroft shot to send the Eagles up 1-0.
Despite a strong effort in the final minute and twelve seconds, the Rush were unable to score an equalizer and Kyle Jones held on for the shutout win giving the Colorado Eagles the Turner Conference title in seven hard fought contests.
Rapid City Rush netminder Tim Boron saved 30 of 31 shots for the third star, while his Colorado Eagles counterpart Kyle Jones earned the second star for his 32 save shutout. The number one star went to Riley Nelson for scoring the only goal of the night –  the game winner.
