Dustin Sproat signs for Nottingham

NOTTINGHAM, UK – The Nottingham Panthers have just announced the new signing of 29 year old forward Dustin Sproat. The 6’0” 190lbs Canadian won the Kelly Cup in the ECHL last season with the Cincinnati Cyclones, topping the +/-, goals scored and points scored play off tables. Sproat was also called up to the AHL last season, playing 4 games for the Milwaukee Admirals.
Sproat is known for his hard work and commitment to all causes to do with the team and is known to be a real high energy guy who will play until the last minute. Playing in a defensive team last season, he was the highest scoring player in the team for points and goals and is described as a great two way player. This ability of Sproat’s to change defence into attack could be part of Neilson’s attraction to signing him.
“Dustin has five years in the pros under his belt, in Cincinnati , they made it to the Conference Finals last year and they won the Kelly Cup this year. In both campaigns Dustin led the team in playoff points, goals, and plus-minus.
“I can see him leading by example and making the big plays in the big games. He knows what’s expected of him and he is relishing the challenge. He’s a high energy guy and will be good value for the fans to watch.”
Sproat scored 79 points in 90 games last season in the ECHL which was his highest scoring season ever. This is what he had to say about the joining the Panthers, “I spoke to players around Europe and everyone told me Nottingham was the place to go in the UK, I’m looking forward to it and you can add me to the list of players who’ve told you they can’t wait for the new season to get going.”
