Dundas falls short against Engelage

DUNDAS—Dundas Real McCoys played hard with a full line-up, but could not solve 30-year-old Whitby Dunlops netminder Andrew Engelage last night in Allan Cup Hockey in the Harry Howell Arena.

Andrew Engelage in the Whitby Dunlops net thwarts a Dundas Real McCoys scoring effort by Phil Brewer en route a 2-1 Whitby victory in Allan Cup Hockey in the Harry Howell Arena last night.

Whitby scored once each in the first ands third periods as Engelage held the McCoys off the scoresheet. In other action, Stoney Creek Generals beat Hamilton Steelhawks 7-2.

Twice Engelage played in the American Hockey League with the Toronto Marlies in 2009-10 and 2010-11.  Otherwise, the 30-year-old Oshawa native never got a chance to show what he could do.  The Europeans however, found out what he was capable of as he toured those lands for four years between 2015-16 and 2017-18 with Ritten Renon, Italy; Bofors IK, Sweden; Krefeld Penguins, DEL and Graz EC, Austria.

Tonight the six-foot four-inch goalie Andrew Engelage faced 36 Dundas shots as Brett Mackie and Kyle McLaughlin scored for the Dunlops. Chris Gour assisted on both of the Whitby goals. Charlie Stephens put the McCoys on the scoresheet with a minute and 17 to go in the second period.
