Dundas comes close, but not close enough

STONEY CREEK—Kellan Lain scored the eventual game-winning goal at 2:35 of the third period on a pass from Martin Lee as the Stoney Creek Generals won the best-of-seven Allan Cup Hockey semifinal in Stoney Creek’s Gateway Ice Centre.

Darren Haydar and Cam Watson pulled the Dundas Real McCoys to within a goal as time ran out in the game and on the season for Dundas.  Stoney Creek held on for a 5-4 victory and took the series 4-1 in games.

The Generals advanced to the ACH championship final with the winner of the Hamilton Steelhawks-Whitby Dunlops semifinal series.  Hamilton leads the series 2-1 in games.

Andrew Hotham led the Generals with a goal and two assists with single goals going to Jarrett Konkle, Igor Gongalsky, Josh Soares, and Lain.   Brad Bonello led Dundas with a goal and two assists with single goals going to Cam Watson, Shawn Snider, and Darren Haydar.  Phil Brewer set up three of the four Real McCoys goals.
