Dumoulin signs 2-year contract with Kraken

Brian Dumoulin signed a two-year, $6.3 million contract with the Seattle Kraken on Saturday. It has an average annual value of $3.15 million.

The 31-year-old defenseman had an NHL career-high 25 points (one goal, 24 assists) in 82 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins last season.

“Brian is a two-time Stanley Cup champion and is coming off of his most productive season offensively,” Kraken general manager Ron Francis said. “He has been a consistent, reliable defenseman throughout his career. We are happy to welcome his to Seattle.”

Selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round (No. 51) of the 2009 NHL Draft, Dumoulin has 139 points (19 goals, 120 assists) in 546 regular-season games for the Penguins and 25 points (four goals, 21 assists) in 81 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Dumoulin won the Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 2016 and 2017.
