Ducks win fifth straight, 4-3, over Coyotes in OT Crouse's double leads Anaheim to win

In Anaheim, Troy Terry  hit for two power play goals in the first period to give the Ducks a 2-0 lead over the visiting Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday night.

The Coyotes replied with three straight goals to take a 3-2 lead.

“I think the worst thing is we get up 2-0 and we’re thinking, ‘OK, this might be easy,'” Anaheim coach Greg Cronin said.

Leo Carlsson tied the game, 3-3, for Anaheim, Terry completed a hat trick in extra time for a 4-3 win.

“With the way they play, if you’re not sharp and you’re not skating, they’re going to get quality chances and they scored on two of them in the first period,” Cronin said. “We’re lucky there wasn’t more.”

Lukas Dostal made 32 saves in the win.

The victory was the fifth straight for Anaheim.

The Ducks imp[roved to 6-4-0.

The game-winner came off a nifty feed from Mason McTavish  after a skating exhibition in the neutral zone.

“I was kind of assuming he was going to bring it back to our end,” Terry said of McTavish’s move to create the 2-on-1. “I tried to just hang there and he made an incredible move, kind of baiting that he was going to bring it back, and just took a couple hard strides the other way.”

Lawson Crouse, who hit for a double in the game, scored at 11:41 of the first to trim the deficit to 2-1 for the Coyotes.

“We had a tough start. We battled back. We came back in the game, and we even had a lead,” Coyotes coach Andre Tourigny said. “We could expect to win in that type of situation.”

Arizona’s Logan Cooley scored off a breakaway at 14:25 to tie the game, 2-2.

“With the way they play, if you’re not sharp and you’re not skating, they’re going to get quality chances and they scored on two of them in the first period,” Cronin said. “We’re lucky there wasn’t more.”

Crouse scored his double at 14:25 of the middle frame to to give the Coyotes a 3-2 lead.

“The maturity of this team is growing,” Terry said. “You see it in a win like that. We didn’t have our best game, but we were able to keep them to the outside and score on our opportunities.”

Karel Vejmelka made 25 saves in the loss.

“I did not like the way we played when we were under attack,” Tourigny said. “We need to be comfortable being uncomfortable, and we were not today.”
