With their Pacific division rivals losing in regulation, the Anaheim Ducks can be forgiven for being grateful for a loser’s point Thursday night in Columbus.
Brandon Saad and Brandon Dubinsky scored in the third period to overcome a two-goal deficit by the Blue Jackets and eventually win, 4-3, in the skills competition.
“We played a great game tonight and I thought we deserved the two points,” Dubinsky said. “We kept coming. That’s why I liked our game tonight. We didn’t get frustrated. We didn’t get down.”
Joonas Korpisalo stayed hot for the Jackets in the win and was solid in the shootout, stopping Jakob Silfverberg and Corey Perry.
Korpisalo made 24 saves for the win.
David Perron, and Mike Santorelli and Ryan Garbutt scored for Anaheim
“We didn’t respect (Columbus) enough at the start of the game,” Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said. “[Andersen] was on top of his game [in] the first period or it would have been 3-1 in their favor. He got us the point.”
The Ducks are 1-1-1 on the road trip now.
“We played well in the third but gave up the penalty kill,” Garbutt said. “We got a point on the road. You’ve got to take the positives out of it and move on to the next one.”
