Ducks streak ends in loss to Carolina

In Anaheim, the Ducks winning streak ended on Thursday night, in a 2-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

The streak ended at eight games.

“We’ve been able to hang in there and play with, basically, every team so far,” Ducks head coach Dallas Eakins said.

Carolina improved to a gaudy 13-2-0 on the season.

Frederik Andersen made 31 saves in the Canes win.

The game was tied 1-1 in the third period when Carolina’s Seth Jarvis hit for the game-winner.

“We’ll take the win,” Carolina head coach Rod Brind’Amour said. “[The Ducks] are a good team. They’re playing fast and I thought they were real confident in what they were doing.”

Troy Terry extended his point streak to 16 games, with a goal in the first period to tie the game, 1-1.

“We had all kinds of chances to win that game, and they were able to get one on us in the third and shut it down,” Terry said. “That’s the step we’ve been taking. … We’re not happy with just playing with teams now, our mindset is different.”

Ethan Bear gave the Hurricanes a 1-0 lead in the first period with his first goal of the season.

“The game had a bit of everything,” Brind’Amour said. “Had a lot of grind in there and some good physical play.”

John Gibson made 29 saves in the Ducks loss.
