Ducks rally then hold off Boston in 4-3 win

In Boston Thursday night, the Anaheim Ducks rallied back from a 2-0 deficit to the Boston Bruins to take a 4-3 win.

After rough start to the game Jonathan Bernier settled down for the Ducks and made 31 saves for the win.

“Well I thought we just executed,” Bernier said. “We didn’t really panic. If we had no play we just chipped it out and we took the ice and that’s what you’ve got to do in the third [period]. When you have the lead, you keep that middle tight, you let them shoot from the outside if you have to give up something, and that’s what we did.”

With just over five minutes gone in the third period, Rickard Rakell  potted a rebound past Anton Khudobin who made 23 saves in the loss for the Bruins.

“I thought our third period we at least gave it a good push,” Bruins coach Claude Julien said. “We couldn’t get that goal but I thought the guys tried for three tough games in four nights, I appreciated the effort the guys gave in the third period to try and get ourselves back into it.”

Zdeno Chara and Austin Czarnik scored in the first period to help Boston to the 2-0 lead as the Bruins looked to keep the Ducks on their heels.

Andrew Cogliano and Kevin Bieksa rallied Anaheim back to a 2-2 tie before the end of the opening frame.

Anaheim kept the rally going in the opening minute of the second period when Josh Manson scored to give the Ducks a 3-2 lead.

Just over a minute after Manson’s goal, David Krejci  scored to tie it at 3-3.

That left it to Rakell in the third period to help Anaheim improve to 16-10-5.

The loss dropped Boston 16-13-3 on the campaign.
