In Anaheim, the visiting Vegas Golden Knights posted a 2-0 lead over the Ducks with goals in the first and second periods.
In the third period, Anaheim struck for four goals in a 4-2 win over Vegas.
The loss was the first in regulation for the Golden Knights.
The Ducks have won six straight.
John Gibson made 25 saves for the win.
Anaheim improved to 7-4-0.
Anaheim’s Adam Henrique scored with 38 seconds gone in the third to trim the Vegas lead to 2-1.
“It might have been one of our best defensive games of the year, if not the best when we get our numbers back, but three goals had eyes in the third period,” Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy said. “We want saves there, but they found a way.”
Midway through the third, Sam Carrick tied it, 2-2, after Vegas fumbled the puck at their blue line and could not clear the zone.
“It just goes to show the character of the group here,” Carrick said. “Never quitting, never giving up and just believing in each other. It doesn’t matter if it’s a one-, two- or three-goal lead, we’ve got a chance to come back.”
The Ducks’ Mason McTavish scored off a rebound and scramble in front of the net at 16:20 for the eventual game-winner, 3-2.
Carrick hit for double with an empty-net goal at 18:51 for the 4-2 final.
At 8:51 of the fist period, Ivan Barbashev scored off a tip-in at the left post for a 1-0 lead to the Golden Knights.
“Going down 2-0 to the Stanley Cup Champions, the best team in the League, in my opinion, the Vegas Golden Knights, to show resiliency and come back, we’ve done it a bunch of times against a bunch of different teams,” said Anaheim’s Alex Killorn. “It’s pretty impressive to see that kind of resiliency in this group, especially such a young group.”
Vegas dropped to 11-1-1.
Jack Eichel pushed the advantage to 2-0 at 13:43 in the middle frame, the goal was wrister after he skated the length of the ice on the right side.
Logan Thompson made 19 saves in the loss.
