In Calgary, Game 3 was a traffic jam in front of the Flames’ net and the Anaheim Ducks’ net for most of the night and for seemingly all of the goals.
The Flames built a 4-1 lead through the second period before the Ducks rallied with four
unanswered goals to take a 5-4 win and 3-0 series lead.
Corey Perry threw the puck into traffic at the Flames net for the winner with just 90 seconds gone in the extra session.
“You never say never,” Perry said. “You just keep pushing shift after shift, get pucks to the net and we found a way tonight. That’s all that matters.”
It wasn’t easy as the Ducks’ starter in net, John Gibson, was given the hook the second after yielding four goals.
Jonathan Bernier finished the game for Anaheim and made 16 saves to get the win.
Gibson was victimized by three power play goals.
“That’s why we have two solid goalies,” Perry said. “Nothing against [Gibson]. Couple bad breaks, couple power plays. [Bernier] came in and played solid and made some big saves for us.”
Shea Theodore struck twice for Anaheim and Nick Ritchie and Nate Thompson scored in regulation as well.
“You find a way to come back like this, it shows a lot of character in our team and it feels good,” Thompson said.
Gibson was shaky in making 12 saves but faced a traffic jam in front of the cage on each of the goals.
“Once we started, we got one, two and the third one, I felt like they kind of played a little more back a little bit and we just took charge and stepped our game up,” Theodore said. “They came out pretty hard, but I felt like once we got our game back on track we were definitely pretty strong.”
Michael Stone, Sean Monahan, Kris Versteeg, and Sam Bennett scored for Calgary.
“Now we have to try and win Game 4,” Stone said. “Put this one behind us and move onto the next one. One at a time.”

Brian Elliott.took the loss on 22 saves.
“I don’t think there’s going to be any doubts. It’s just that it’s a tough thing to do at any stage. We’re going to have to come together as a group and do it together,” Elliott said.
