WINNIPEG – After two wins in a row the Winnipeg Jets were looking at keeping this streak going but it has been the story of the season as they continued to find a road block when it comes to stringing more than two wins in a row.
The Anaheim Ducks came into the MTS Centre and used a strong opening period and
then went into a defensive shell and hung on with a 3-2 road win.
These two teams played a very physical opening twenty minutes as it was hard and heavy along the boards . There were numerous thunderous checks dished out between these two Western Conference foes .There is a reason why the Ducks are challenging for the top spot in the West . They are a big strong disciplined team who can just punish you along the wall.
The Jets got going early as Andrew Copp took a Mark Scheifele feed and walked in and ripped a wrister past Ducks goalie Jonathan Bernier for his sixth of the season.
“It was good for the confidence, I guess,” Copp said. “It’s nice to start the game the right way, I guess, for me. Like anybody else, you score one early you feel like you’ve got good jump and ready to go. I thought I just built from there.”
The Ducks came right back as they were killing a penalty and Logan Shaw scored his second of the season shorthanded to tie things at 1-1.
“I think we got ourselves in trouble with a lot of PKs tonight but we found a way to win a big game on the road,” Bernier said.
Jet killer Rickard Rakell scored his 20th a minute later to give the Ducks a 2-1lead.
“Obviously it feels good,” Rakell said. “It’s kind of been going my way this year and I’ve been trying to roll with it. I’m just going to keep moving forward and take every game as it comes. I want to score every game and I’m not satisfied at all. I want to keep going.”
Chris Thorburn of the Jets and Jared Boll of the Ducks squared up early in the period and let there teams know this was gonna be a war as the two heavies threw some big punches and ended in a draw before heading off for five a piece.
The Jets started to use there speed more in the second period and took control of the game but couldn’t find the back of the net.

Ryan Getzlaf tipped home his seventh on the power play halfway through the third to put the Ducks up 3-1 before Nik Ehlers made a highlight reel rush and potted his 17th past Bernier to draw the Jets within one.
With the net empty the Jets applied decent pressure and some looks but couldn’t find the back of the net.
“I thought we played great,” Jets forward Blake Wheeler said. “Sometimes the score is not always a good indicator. Just because we lost the game doesn’t mean we got our [rear ends] kicked all night. We did a lot of good things.”
Ondrej Pavelec started his third straight game since being recalled from the Moose . He stopped 24 of 27 shots and suffered his first loss after winning two in a row.
Notes: Mathieu Perreault left the game in the first period after taking a slash to the arm or hand and his status is unknown at this time.
The Jets will be back at it tomorrow night when the san Jose Sharks come to town.
