In Anaheim, John Gibson made 49 saves, and the Ducks downed the Vegas Golden Knights, 3-2, on Wednesday night.
Troy Terry was credited with the deciding goal in the skills portion of the evenings’ affairs.
“That’s my job;Â I do it all the time,” Gibson said. “You just have to make the plays and make the saves. The team did a good job of cleaning the rebounds out and helping me out when I needed it.”
Adam Henrique scored twice in the first period to give the Ducks the dreaded 2-0 lead.
“Our chemistry has been building all year,” Henrique said.
The two teams were were scoreless in a collective 10 power play chances.
“Either team scores on the power play, it probably doesn’t end up going to a shootout, right?” Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said.
The Ducks improved to 10-22-4.
“We misfired on some of our opportunities, and it ends up being probably the difference in the game,” Cassidy said.
Mark Stone scored on a breakaway in the middle frame to cut the Ducks lead to 2-1.
“You’ve got to find a way to score more than two goals,” said Stone. “Against a team like that, you’re not happy walking away with one point. You’ve got to beat them.”
Vegas dropped to 24-12-2.
“We had a lot of really good chances,” Vegas defenseman Alex Pietrangelo said. “I mean, [51] shots, you’ve got to find a way to capitalize.”
Ben Hutton tied it at 13:32 of the second.
Adin Hill got the start for Vegas and surrendered both Henrique goals in the first period, he made three saves before getting the hook.
Logan Thompson made 22 saves in relief.
“We had a lot of really good chances,” Vegas defenseman Alex Pietrangelo said. “I mean, [51] shots, you’ve got to find a way to capitalize.”
