“It was long. You’re just hoping someone gets a goal,” New York’ Thomas Greiss said. “It’s not too tiring. You focus on the guy, figure out what you’re going to do, and worry about that.”
Jonathan Bernier took the loss for Anaheim on 33 saves.
Greiss made 39 saves to grab the win that broke a four-game skid for the Isles.
“We needed the point so badly,” Thomas Hickey said. “It was a big step against a good hockey team on the road, and hopefully we can string something together there.”
For New York, it was their first road win of the season and managed it regulation goals from Adam Pelech and Josh Bailey.
Cam Fowler and Rickard Rakell scored for the Ducks in regulation who are now winless in overtime and shootout games in four tries.
“You can’t get too down with it,” coach Randy Carlyle said. “We’ve got to stay at an even keel and get ourselves ready for a big game (Chicago Blackhawks) on Friday.”
