Ducks end homestand with another loss

In Anaheim, Tomas Hertl struck for two goals for the visiting San Jose Sharks Thursday in a 5-3 win over the Ducks.

Hertl did not finish the game, he left with an undisclosed injury.

Martin Jones made 29 saves to get the win.

“We’re still in a hole here so we’ve got to make sure that we continue to build our game,” Jones said.

Max Jones, Rickard Rakell and Jakob Silfverberg scored for Anaheim.

The Ducks finished a five-game homestand with a 0-3-2 record.

“We clearly didn’t get enough points (on the homestand),” Rakell said. “Going on the road here, we know there are lot of tough teams we are playing. We’re just going to have to find a way to win games.”

Brent Burns, Evander Kane and Logan Couture added single markers for the Sharks.

“I thought in the third we found another level, our entire team,” Sharks head coach Peter DeBoer said.

John Gibson made 30 saves in the loss.

“We really got to bear down and get that next one,” Ducks forward Adam Henrique said. “It seems like, in a few of these games, where we’re up one. … we’ve got to be able to step on their throat kind of thing.”
