Ducks edge St Louis, 4-3

In Anaheim Friday night, Matt Beleskey broke in on Martin Brodeur in the St Louis net and deked twice before neatly putting the puck high in the cage to give the Ducks a 4-3 lead and win over the Blues.

“It was just one of those chances,” Beleskey said. “You get in there. He stopped Anaheim Ducksme a few times early in the game, and luckily I got that one through him.”

The Ducks managed to put their ugly, 3-0, loss to the Sharks behind them and defeat one of the better teams in the west this season.

“We find a way to win,” Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau said. “Sometimes it doesn’t look like we deserve it, but we find a way to win.”

Boudreau was less than pleased with the defensive effort on the night; the Ducks have given up three goals in their two games.

“I thought we had a great effort and we scored three goals, but I think on the defensive side of the puck we made a few mistakes that they capitalized on,” Brodeur said. “They’re a good hockey team. You just can’t give up anything for free, and we did today.”

Boudreau got the band back together when he reunited the line of Beleskey, Ryan Kesler and Kyle Palmieri; that line kicked in on the scoresheet with two goals, two assists, nine shots and three takeaways for the evening’s efforts.

Ryan Getzlaf and Andrew Cogliano also scored for the Ducks.
