In Anaheim Friday night, the Ducks’ John Gibson returned to the lineup after missing four games and made 30 saves to help Ducks to a 3-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers.
Hampus Lindholm had a goal and two points in the win.
“You’re comfortable when [Gibson] is in there, and he’s comfortable with us in front of him,” Lindholm said. “It was nice to see him back in net.”
Corey Perry and Ryan Kesler also scored for Anaheim.
“We just tried to focus on getting the job done,” Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle said. “I don’t think we had a lot of jump, but we had enough jump. Just find a way to be the difference.”
Anaheim improved to 27-19-10 good enough for a tie for the third spot in the Pacific.
“We just try to stick to what we do good out there. Play to our strength. That’s when our group is successful,” Lindholm said.
Anton Slepyshev and Kris Russell had the Oilers goals who close two-goal deficits twice in the match but could not avoid losing their second straight game.
“It’s history repeating itself,” Oilers coach Todd McLellan said of the deficits. “It’s frustrating for the players and the group.”
The Oilers dropped to 23-26-4.
“It’s frustrating,” Russell said. “There were times we played well enough to win. We’ve had chances to bear down and score, but we didn’t.”

Cam Talbot made 31 saves in taking the loss.
“It’s nice to see the effort is there, but we didn’t get points and it’s frustrating.” the Oilers’ Brandon Davidson said after the loss.
